Crossfit is a core strength and conditioning program. It is designed to elicit a broad adaptational response by means of constantly varied, functional movements performed at high intensity.
According to the founder Greg Glassman in his foundations document, Crossfit aims to optimize physical competence in each of 10 recognised fitness domains. These domains are: cardiovascular and respiratory endurance, stamina, strength, flexibility, power, speed, coordination, agility, balance and accuracy. These goals translate to overall fitness, functional strength and overall preparedness
Our standing, sitting, throwing, pushing, pulling, lifting and running are natural movements and part of our design and exercises utilising these movements are the functional movements that translate to strength in everyday life – you squat whenever you stand up from a seated position and deadlift whenever you pick up an object.
